Laptop wifi keeps getting disconnected from home network?

question says it all. my laptop is brandnew. can establish a connection but it keeps getting disconnected and then reconnects only to be disconnected minutes later. easier to use at night though w/ limited interruptions. my pc has a cable modem and wireless router. do you think this sounds like some issue i need to resolve on the laptop itself or is it comcast screwing up?
