VCR not working with WOW digital adapter?

We recently acquired a WOW digital adapter, as WOW has now fully turned digital and required that all its customers switch over. However, we hadn't used our VCR since we installed it. Typically, we have to change the channel to 3 on the TV, turn on the VCR, and it works, but all we get now is a blue screen and the channels saying we have an interruption in our service. We tried unplugging the stupid adapter to see if it would work, and no channels responded at all; everything was blue screens. How can we get it to work?
