Is certified organic non-presticide?

I have researched this and haven't really found a clear answer. I have been told it does guarantee it by one person, but I am still skeptical. I do not trust industry. What about whole foods' items, maybe they are more trustworthy? I know there is a code that differentiates items between organic and non organic. Does certified organic guarantee that there was no pesticide used when growing the item?
